Water management

With approximately 40% of the land surface beneath sea level, a lot of water management is necessary in the Netherlands. One of the ways to deal with the surplus of water in one area and the lack of water in another, is the use of weirs. This one, in the river Vecht in the province of Overijssel, is operated automatically, depending on the water level in the river.
